  It was originally prophesied in Malachi 4:5&6, which probably has a double fulfillment (the spirit of Elijah will/may be a forerunner for both the first and second coming of Jesus).

 The gospel of Mark references this, but with less detail, 9:12&13.

 Luke 1:17 talks about Malachi's prophecy from a spiritual, rather than physical point-of-view.

 

  And somewhat related, after 'Palm Sunday' but before His arrest, Jesus was preaching one of his final messages in the Temple courtyard when the chief priests and elders challenged his authority to do that. (They were likely looking for a way to arrest him right then on the spot and save the 30 pieces of silver) Jesus answers them with a question His accusers cannot answer, but the reader can determine that the answer is: Both! This is another instance when the spirit/heaven parallels the physical/earth.  This is found in Matthew 21:23-27, Mark 11:27-33, and Luke 20:1–8.

 

  The point we hope came across during the devotion was that both spiritual and physical were aligned when (time) and where (space) Jesus made His confrontational declaration, "On this rock I will build MY church..."  (taking authority back)

  The gates of hell will not prevail against her, His bride.

 

More Notes Added 

How could we possibly know what the Spirit realm is like?

Paul tells us we can presently see a hazy outline of it. At the time he was writing, mirrors were polished metal; his analogy was that we have a reflection here of what the spirit realm is (1 Corinthians 13:12). We can know, at least in part, because God created us in His own image (Genesis 1:27). There is similarity. The concept is repeated in Ephesians 4.  Even though we cannot know it completely; we can know in part because we are God-imagers; we were damaged by rebellions, but the potential for restoration/reconciliation still allows a limited view.

The Bible never says that the Earth is a copy of what God has in heaven. Where did you get that?

That's not completely true. Hebrews 8:5 tells us that the plan for the Tabernacle is a copy of Heaven's Temple AND that the duties/service performed by the priests were a typical representation and a shadow of the heavenly things. When they were on Mt. Sinai God commanded Moses, "See that you make all things after their pattern." The heavenly sanctuary is the archetype, the earthly one a copy. There's definitely a pattern being copied as regards the temple, plus, all the festivals and feast days were Earth-provisory shadows of God's Spiritual plan for redeeming mankind, Colossians 2:17, and there are also many other examples where Earth copies Heaven. Spread throughout the Bible, one could construct a lengthy list of similarities:  from musical instruments, to gardens, to horses, to rivers and trees, to streets and houses….

Two assignments/instructions that Jesus gave his disciples show a close connection between Heaven and Earth—that God's intent is to have them reflect each other. They were to pray "On Earth as it is in Heaven" Matt 6:10, and "whatever you may bind on earth will already be bound in the heavens, and whatever you may loosen on earth will already be loosened in the heavens," Matt 16:19.

More patterns and copies? The marriage covenant is an earthly picture of the heavenly reality of God’s relationship with his people. 

Of course there are differences, (a) Heaven worships One God while on Earth there are "many “gods” and many “lords” 1 Cor 8:5.  And (b) some Roles in the Spirit Realm are carried out only on Earth. For example, Exodus 15:3 "The Lord is a mighty warrior. Jehovah is his name," and Zephaniah 3:17 "The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves." This spiritual warfare is carried out on Earth, because that is where the enemy of God is. But the similarities are great: Earth is to reflect God's Glory.  

 

A Few Things I Learned About Drones (mostly reassuring)

There were odd drone sightings over New Jersey and elsewhere toward the end of "the" Biden's term. The public was basically told, "No Worries."   But it's still a mystery.

A Few Things I Learned About Drones (mostly reassuring)

• Day v Night — Optical surveillance and mapping generally require daylight; reasons for drones flying at night would likely involve sensors looking for something else: thermal/infrared temperature differences, such as non-dispersive gas leaks; radioactivity, possibly a missing nuclear warhead (more in endnote)

• Range — current standard battery life limits long-range drones; gas engines can go farther but are also noisier. Launching from an offshore ship is possible, but highly wasteful use of power to send and return. Heavy payloads (including weight of fuel) would reduce flight time, and therefore limit range. When government spokespersons say "no evidence the drones are dangerous" you can "guess" they mean no dangerous payloads; data collecting surveillance always has an element of the unknown. 

• FAA regulations on Navigation Lights and Altitude — lights indicate FAA compliance (if a drone did not have lights after dark, it would be a reason to assume nefarious intent). Flying above 400 feet would trigger more regulatory and licensing permissions and rules. It would be "bad public relations" to take down a drone that was FAA compliant. But flying below 400' is low enough to "sniff."

• FCC regulations on communication — Antenna configurations vary and are proportional to range of data collection. [Using 1 watt for FAA compliance, higher wattages require additional authorization,] "typically" a 360° non-directional antenna is good for hundreds of feet, a forward-faced antenna may reach multiple yards, a narrow directional may be a few miles, but for a drone to fly much further than that from its controller requires using a tracking system. That means if a drone is flying more than "teen-miles," its instructions are being relayed through another device.

> Endnote: Going back to the Reagan era ("Mr. Gorbachev, Take down that wall!") During the fall of the Soviet Union, 80 nuclear warheads went missing from Ukraine... Not going there with this post, but more recently, Obama/Biden era, a whistleblower informed the current administration that one of those was leaving Europe headed for the US.    

Thoughts on Replacement Theology —

 

The Holy Spirit started leading me to a fuller picture of What's Really Going On years ago, and then stepped it up within the past decade. It's been a process-journey, not a boom!-revelation. Since the Hamas attack on Gaza (10/7/23), accurate hermeneutics for matching Bible history with current events have become more important—especially if one is confronted by a Replacement Theology Activist (which happens a lot in social media groups). 

 

My exploration into this began as a comfortably paced realization that the spiritual world is very real, which I very much needed because my childhood church believed in evolution and therefore, instead of recognizing that the Canaanite's gods were evil spirits, I was taught all that 'false idol stuff' was made up by primitive, non-scientific minds.  But as an adult I came to understand that there is an unseen realm that rebelled against God and has been playing out its spiritual war on battlefield Earth. God created Earth for humans He made in His Image, and He covenanted with His creation to enable them to overcome evil. Some covenants have term limits, but others like those with Adam, Noah, and Abraham are eternal (or more accurately, everlasting in all dimensions or for as long as Earth-time remains).

    The Abrahamic Covenant began as a promise in Genesis 12:1-9 and was completed/ratified (fully cut) in Genesis 17. It established geographic real estate for God and it designated which people (nationality) would be the overseers. It was continued through Isaac, Gen 26:2-5, the son of The Promise. This is the covenant that backed up Joshua's conquests after the Israelites had been MIA in Egypt and the wilderness for over 440 years. Genesis 17:7 establishes it as an everlasting covenant. Unlike portions of later covenants made with Moses and David, none of the Abrahamic Covenant concludes with/at/upon Jesus' resurrection.

    The perpetuity of Abraham's covenant is reinforced by several Old Testament prophets and in the Psalms. The New Testament clarifies and confirms this in Romans 11:2.  Additionally, endtime prophecy regarding what is commonly called 'Armageddon' and Jesus' Second Coming shows that this land given to Abraham will be in the control of his descendants. Therefore, The Church, The Bride of Christ, is not occupying the land of Israel at the time of Christ's return; it is under the control of a political beast system. (descendants gone bad?)

    I've had replacement theology nitwits in online religion forums try to tell me I am promoting a false doctrine in saying the Land is Israel's because "The Church" is in charge now and the Church doesn't get overthrown. No, I am not saying that the church gets overthrown. (Anyway, the Church is the Bride; she gets married.) The Land, Eretz Yisrael, is God's under the everlasting covenant, and as we move from the Church Age to the Kingdom Age the world will see that the Abrahamic Covenant still holds when Jesus returns to reign on Earth.

    Those who pursue "Replacement of Israel by the Church" are going to end up in a ditch. Yes, in Luke 21:24 Jesus talks about Jerusalem being under control of the Gentiles for a time, but that does not mean they are there legally (with a scripturally-legal claim) or that Allah-worshiping Palestinians "deserve" the land covenanted to Abraham. Paul explains in Romans 11:25; Israel experiences a partial hardening by God, not a full replacement. The partial hardening happened to Israel, but with a time limit, only until "the fullness of the Gentiles has come in." (a related but different topic)

    Abraham's Covenant is everlasting; today's politics are not.

 • The Church has erred in being sloppy about "chosen people." God did not choose them because they were 'special'. He chose them for an assignment. They were to show the other (pagan) nations that there is only one God. God has watched over His plan and protected them even when they screwed up, often punishing them as well. This is a biggie that has resulted in a lot of misplaced hate. I never use the term "chosen" any more unless it is obvious what the 'choosing' was for. • On the whole, the Church is confused about the difference between (a) the Abrahamic Covenant, which applies over all nations and was mostly a real estate thing (there was no Israel yet). Abraham's covenant was continued through Isaac, the son of Promise (see Galatians 4:21+) This is a covenant for perpetuity, as long as the Earth remains. God declared the land as his, and later made it clear that the inheritance continued through Isaac (not Ishmael) and then Jacob (not Essau) [Rom 9:7]; and (b) the Mosaic Covenant which was given to the Hebrew tribes, parts of which timed-out at Jesus' resurrection. Replacement theology errs by lumping the two together as "Old Testament" and says it all timed out. It did not; the land is still held in reserve for Jesus' second coming and millennial reign, and All of Abraham's true children [Gal 3:7, Rom 11:17-20, Matt 3:9, John 8:32ff] should be able to figure out that Israel will not be home to a Muslim/Palestinian state as we enter the next kingdom age.

A new look at Pierce v Society of Sisters - 100 years later

 

 Pierce v. Society of Sisters was sort of a Biggie ruling regarding attacks on Our Freedom by Compulsory Public (government-controlled) Education. June first was the100th anniversary of the SCOTUS decision, and I had wanted to post about it, but things got away from me, so here is a weekend Catch-Up.
The state of Oregon had passed a law that required every parent, guardian or other person having control or charge or custody of a child between eight and sixteen years to send him/her to a public school.
The Society of Sisters was a faith-based group that had been caring for orphans and teaching youth for over 40 years. It had grown to run a system of primary schools, high schools, and even junior colleges which covered the same subjects being taught in public schools, but from the perspective and with the tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Yes, there was a follow-the-money angle to the case; the Society owned property and buildings, and had long-term contracts with teachers and parents. The Oregon law was causing students to withdraw and would collapse the schools financially. But more importantly, the law interfered with Parental Rights choose schools where their children will receive appropriate mental and religious training, the right of the child to influence the parents' choice of a school, and the right of schools and teachers therein to engage in a useful business or profession. Basically, the enforcement of the Oregon law would destroy all private education, even a military academy that had been established  14 years earlier.  It was, accordingly, "repugnant to the Constitution." 
The Supreme Courts landmark desision struck down the Oregon law for imposing unreasonable restrictions on personal liberties. 
Set in historical context, this case regarding parental rights, along with a couple other landmark decisions ( Meyer v Nebraska, Gitlow v NYwithin a window of time) regarding free speech, was truly a Major Win in evil spiritual battles happening concurrently in the Unseen Realm. Here is the part that too often gets left out of the story these days: 
Many prominent educators, the KKK, and the fraternal lodges that were so powerful at that time were all big supporters of Compulsory Government Education(indoctrination). Their talking points contended that (1) getting rid of non-public schools would raise educational standards, (2) improve tensions between different religions and social classes, and (3) promote assimilation of immigrants and their children.  

 rights guaranteed by the Constitution may not be abridged by legislation which has no reasonable relation to some purpose within the competency of the State. The fundamental theory of liberty upon which all governments in this Union repose excludes any general power of the State to standardize its children by forcing them to accept instruction from public teachers only. The child is not the mere creature of the State; those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right, coupled with the high duty, to recognize and prepare him for additional obligations.

My train of thought began last week when I saw a survey about the difficulty of finding a good local church. Only 7% of North Americans have a biblical worldview—which means there are a ton of churches out there that Don't have a biblical worldview, or if that view is in their mission statement, then they've stopped talking about it. 'The sheep' don't have a balanced diet; they lack access to the whole counsel of God at their church and are left to seek it elsewhere.

Why is it so hard to find a based fellowship these days? (And I'm NOT referring to obvious anti-bible teaching that pressures congregants to "accept" criminal unbelievers and sexual perversions performed on children. I'm talking about churches that self-censor and remain silent on knotty topics.)

As the picture shows, yesterday's sermon addressed "Sorcery," a knotty topic that needs the light of Truth shone upon it.

Sorcery is one of those "biblical issues" that (twenty years ago) I found myself having to go research outside any local church help. It was taboo to discuss it! Sorcery gets labeled as "evil" and then is rarely addressed further from our pulpits. Consequently, many church-attenders have No Idea how deeply it has infested our politicians, bureaucrats, and judges.

The AI-bot estimates we currently have 1.5 million people in the U.S. who identify as wiccan, pagan, or participate in satan worship. The Pastor's research (42:10 if you watch) found that 1-in-5 people in America have consulted with psychics or fortunetellers, a multi-Billion dollar business. The number of sorcerers is probably MUCH higher because of O'Biden's Welcome Mat policy. The MS-13 gang follows satan, and many imported from Haiti brought their Voodoo with them. Sorcery is one of the theaters in the Spiritual War that rages against Believers.

It has been pretty easy for Believers to live in a cocoon, even when demons were manifesting in plain sight on the evening news (yes, Biden's "whispering" was an unclean spirit). I find it reassuring to know that others are courageous enough to tell the truth about uncomfortable subjects. America has many "influencers" in high government places who are involved in the dark arts, and they have dark powers helping to conceal them.
